Overheard a guy at the lumber yard drop some wisdom
Was grabbing plywood yesterday and this old timer tells his buddy "measure twice, cut once, but check your damn level before you nail anything." Made me think about all the times I rushed framing and ended up shimming stuff later. I took that to heart on a closet shelf job this morning. Anybody else get random tips from strangers that actually stick?

Built my first workbench out of 2x4s and a dream about 20 years ago. The thing wobbled so bad you could measure earthquakes from it. Still have it in the garage holding paint cans and guilt. Ever try to level a table saw on three different shims and a prayer?

Wait, is @the_kim talking about that workbench story too or something else? Because that bench sounds like it's held together with more hope than hardware lol. Reminds me of my first attempt at building a shed door - used hinges from a garage sale and ended up with a lean that made it look like a cartoon character's house. Some of the jankiest projects end up being the ones you remember most though, holding paint cans and all.
