My old miter saw gave out on me mid-cut Tuesday afternoon
I've had this Delta miter saw for about 12 years now, got it used from a buddy who was retiring. I was cutting some crown molding for a kitchen remodel over in Oakwood and halfway through a 45 degree cut, the blade just locked up and smoked like crazy. Turned out the bearings in the motor completely seized. I had to run to Home Depot and grab a new DeWalt to finish the job that evening. Spent 4 hours getting everything back on track. Has anyone else had a tool just die on them at the worst possible time like that?

Had to grab a new saw myself a few years back when my old Makita circular kicked it mid job. I was cutting deck boards for a sunroom and the armature just fried out, smelled like burnt wires and everything. Picked up a Ridgid that afternoon and got it done, but I learned to always keep a spare blade and a can of WD40 handy for cleaning bearings. Now I oil my saws every few months and it's saved a couple of them from the same fate.

Well that's a fancy way of saying you cooked your saw and learned to oil things.
