Just remembered what a framer told me on a job in Cleveland
I was working a remodel in Cleveland back in 2017, helping this old framer named Jerry. He looked at me and said 'stop fighting the wall, just feel where it wants to go'. That stuck with me because I was trying to force a stud into a crooked corner for 10 minutes. He walked over, set it in one try, and walked away. Has anyone else had a simple piece of advice from an old timer that completely changed how you work?

Respectfully, that sounds like the kind of zen advice that works great for a crooked wall but not for much else. Sometimes you gotta fight the wall because the wall is wrong and you're trying to make it not fall down.

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head there. I've been in that spot where you know the wall is just plain wrong and it's not a matter of going around it. Sometimes you've got to put your shoulder into it and push back, because letting it fall isn't an option. The trick is knowing when to pick your fights, but once you've made that call, you commit to it fully. That's real practical wisdom right there, not just empty advice.
