I finally caved and bought that $300 Japanese pull saw everyone talks about, and it actually cut my trim time in half on the last job.
Has anyone else found a tool that seemed like a splurge but ended up being totally worth it?

Know the feeling with my cordless nail gun. Felt ridiculous spending that much at first, but it saves so much time and hassle on every single job now. Totally changed how I feel about setup.

Man, you hit the nail on the head. I had the same guilt buying my cordless drill. It felt like a silly luxury. But not tripping over a cord or hunting for an outlet every five minutes? That alone saves my sanity. Now I can't imagine going back to the old way.

Oh man, that's exactly it! My buddy Dave bought one of those cordless impact drivers last year and he was so embarrassed about the price tag. He kept saying "it's just a drill, why did I spend so much?" Then he showed me how fast he could drive a deck screw without having to drag an extension cord across the yard. He actually timed himself versus his old corded drill and said it saved him like 20 minutes on a single small project. Now he won't shut up about how much easier his weekend projects are. It's funny how something so simple can change your whole mindset about a tool.
