Hot take: got convinced to pick a cheaper dovetail jig over a high end one, and I'm kinda glad I did
I was about to buy the nicer dovetail jig for around $220 last month, but my buddy Ray who runs a cabinet gig in Fresno told me to grab the $65 one first and see if I even use it enough. I picked the cheap one, and after 3 weekends of cutting drawer boxes in my garage I haven't hit a single problem that the fancy one would've fixed. Turns out the setup on the pricey one is more finicky anyway, so I dodged a headache. Ray just said "learn the joint before you learn the jig." Anyone else find the starter tool actually held up better than expected?
