TIL asking for a raise in person vs email makes a huge difference
I asked my boss for a raise over email last year and got nothing. Walked into his office 3 months ago and made the same case face to face, got a 12% bump on the spot. Has anyone else noticed managers just ignore written requests?

Yeah that "walked into his office" part is key. I did the same thing at my old gym job. Sent three emails over six months about wanting to move up to a lead trainer position... nothing. Finally just popped my head in during a slow hour and laid it out simple like "here's what I've been doing, here's what I want." Got the promotion two weeks later. Emails are too easy to ignore or put off, but when you're sitting right there they have to actually deal with you. The face to face thing makes it real.

So did you just catch him at a random time or did you plan it out?
