The manager at my first job in Cleveland gave me one piece of feedback that I still hear in my head 15 years later
I was 22 and thought I was hot stuff because I could answer every question in the team meeting. She pulled me aside after one and asked why I never wrote anything down, because she counted six times I asked her the same thing twice that month. I started keeping a plain notebook the next day and it felt dumb at first, like I was back in school. Fifteen years and four jobs later, I still write everything in a cheap spiral notebook, and it saved me last month when I had to remember a client's exact wording from a call in February. Does anyone else here still do the paper notebook thing, or is that just me being stubborn?

Man, getting called out at 22 had to sting, but she clearly did you a solid. Six repeat questions in a month is wild, and the fact that you actually changed instead of just brushing her off says something. I keep a spiral notebook for work too and people give me grief about it, then they're the ones scrolling through old emails trying to find something from months ago while I just flip a few pages. That client call detail is exactly the kind of thing that falls out of your head the second you need it.
