Shoutout to the recruiter who told me to take a $10k pay cut for "exposure"
Applied for a project manager role at a fintech company in Austin back in March and made it to the final round. The recruiter called me after and said the budget only covered $65k, which was $10k under what I was making at the time, but told me the title bump would be worth it for exposure and future job offers. I turned it down and took a lateral role at a smaller shop for the same money, and 5 months later that fintech company had a hiring freeze and laid off half the team. Has anyone else been pitched the exposure thing and actually taken it?
