Pro tip: My boss's 'bad' meeting in Chicago last month showed me how to ask for help
We were in Chicago for a client pitch that was going wrong fast, and my boss just stopped and said, 'I'm stuck, can someone jump in here?' to our team of four. I always thought asking for help at work made you look weak, but seeing him do it so plainly changed my mind. The junior designer spoke up with a fresh idea that saved the whole thing. Now I try to say 'I'm stuck' early instead of wasting an hour. How do you all handle asking for help without feeling like you're failing?

What if asking for help is actually a sign of strength?

Saw a study from the University of Michigan that said people who ask for help at work are seen as more capable, not less. It's about knowing what you don't know.

That Michigan study lines up with what I've seen at my office. The people who admit they need a second opinion on a tricky case always get more respect. Trying to hide what you don't know just makes a bigger mess later. It takes real confidence to be open about your limits.
