Overheard my coworker say 'fake it till you make it' and it clicked

I was grabbing coffee in the break room last week and one of the senior devs told a new hire that she still looks up stuff on Google all the time, even after 15 years. It hit me that I've been stressing way too hard about knowing everything before I even try something. I spent 6 months avoiding a simple project management certification because I thought I needed to master it first. Turns out signing up for the class and just starting was the real first step, not having all the answers. Has anyone else had that moment where you realized preparing too much was actually holding you back?

Ha, that reminds me of when I tried baking a fancy cake for my mom's birthday and spent three days reading recipes before just throwing flour and eggs together. Turned out lopsided but she loved it anyway. The "fake it" part is just having the guts to start, right?

Exactly. The overthinking part is a trap. You're way better off just diving in and learning by messing up. That lopsided cake? It's a memory, not a failure. Most of the time, "faking it" is really just showing up without a perfect plan and figuring it out as you go.
