My old boss said something about raises that I keep coming back to

I ran into my old boss at the coffee shop by the courthouse, and she said the people who got raises at our last company were the ones who wrote down what they did each week. I started keeping a note on my phone, and after 6 weeks I had 14 things to list when my review came up. Has anyone else tried tracking stuff like that, and how do you remember to keep it up?
