My boss told me my project updates were 'too detailed' and to just give the 3 main points. I tried it in our Monday meeting and it went way better.

My old manager at the print shop used to say "give me the headline, not the whole newspaper." It's a power move because it forces you to actually know what's important, not just everything that happened. Most people just info-dump to cover their own backs. Cutting it down shows you're in control and you get straight to what they can actually act on. It feels weird at first but it's way more professional.

Absolutely. My last boss had the same rule, called it "the elevator pitch version." If I couldn't explain a problem and my proposed fix in thirty seconds, I hadn't figured it out yet. Saved so many pointless meetings.
