My boss in Chicago told me to stop asking for permission on small decisions three years ago, and it changed my whole career path.

I started just making the call on things under $500, and last month I got promoted to a role where that's basically the whole job.

Honestly, the hardest part was the first time I had to explain a $450 mistake I made on my own. Took me a week to stop mentally writing my resignation letter every morning. Ngl, you get used to it faster than you'd think.

What was the hardest part about shifting to that mindset at first?

Tbh my friend had a similar talk with her manager. She freaked out the first time she had to okay a rush shipping fee without asking. Honestly thought she'd get fired for spending like two hundred bucks. But her boss just said good call, we needed that order fast. Kinda wild how a little trust can change how you see your whole job.
