Hot take: chasing a 3% raise cost me less than chasing the 8% one
Everyone pushes you to jump jobs for the bigger paycheck, but when I went from $52,000 to $54,500 staying put in Austin, it kept me on the same health plan and my kid's daycare slot. That raise was smaller but I didn't lose two weeks of pay hunting and onboarding, and I got the senior title anyway. Has anyone actually run the numbers on what a switch really costs you past the salary line?
