Debate: Are those $2,000 online 'career accelerator' courses worth it? I feel like I got scammed.

Man, what kind of course was it? My buddy dropped like $1,500 on one that promised to make him a project manager in six weeks. They just gave him a bunch of free articles you could find online and a useless certificate. He said the "coaching calls" were just pre-recorded videos, lol. Felt totally ripped off and it messed with his confidence for a bit.

That "useless certificate" part hits home. My cousin paid for a coding bootcamp cert that employers just laughed at during interviews. What was the last course you took that actually helped?

Oh man, I actually read a study a while back that said a lot of these "career accelerator" programs barely have better outcomes than just self-studying. The key thing I kept seeing was that if they can't name specific companies that hire their grads, it's usually a red flag. So yeah, take that for what it's worth, but I'd pretty much always go with free resources and a solid network over dropping two grand on a promise.
