A client in Denver told me my invoices were confusing, so I redid them completely.
I used to just list hours and a total, but now I break down each task with a short description and a fixed price, which cut my payment delays in half. Anyone else find that a clearer invoice gets you paid faster?

Totally get what you mean about the clearer invoice getting you paid faster. That "cut my payment delays in half" part is huge. I had the same thing happen, clients just wouldn't pay until they understood every single line. Switching to task based pricing with a quick description made it so much easier for them. It's like they just need that little bit of proof to click approve. Saves a ton of back and forth emails asking what something was for.

Honestly that "little bit of proof" thing can backfire. I tried super detailed task descriptions and it just gave clients MORE to question. They'd argue over what counted as a "quick revision" or if a task was "major" enough for the price. Sometimes a simple total with "services rendered" gets approved faster because there's nothing to nitpick.

Wait, people actually argue over what counts as a "quick revision"?
