Noticed a shift in how people finish their box projects lately

Last week at the community center swap meet, I saw three different cardboard creations that used fabric instead of paint for the outside. One was a little castle covered in old denim scraps, looked surprisingly sturdy. Has anyone else seen this fabric trend start to take over?

I saw three fabric-covered boxes at the library craft fair last weekend, all using old t-shirts. One guy had wrapped his entire shoebox in a striped polo shirt like it was a present, looked okay but the glue was already peeling up on the corners. It's a neat trick for a kid's project but people are acting like it's some revolutionary new thing. I figure it'll fade out in a couple months once everyone realizes paint is cheaper and easier to fix.

Wait, Lucas, you saw glue peeling on a brand new project at a craft fair? That's surprising since most people showing stuff there take pride in their work. I'd have expected better quality control from someone actually displaying their box.
