My wife told me to use hot glue instead of tape on my box fort

I spent 3 hours building a castle for my kid out of old Amazon boxes last weekend. Used about 2 rolls of packing tape and it looked solid. Then my wife said hot glue would hold better and I laughed it off. Well the whole thing collapsed after 20 minutes when my daughter leaned on a wall. Got the glue gun out and rebuilt the corner joints in under an hour. That thing has survived 4 days of toddler attacks now. Anyone else stubbornly stick with tape way too long?

... yeah I was exactly like that with my first box fort. Tape all the way, thought hot glue was overkill. Then my kid decided to test structural integrity by jumping on the roof and I was picking tape strips off the carpet for an hour. Should've listened to the wife first time too I guess.

Structural integrity test, that's a classic. Next time use a strip of velcro along the seams so you can rip it apart easy when they're done.
