TIL I hit 47 campsites in one season and half my gear is still junk
Counted my log book this week and it says 47 nights out since March, which surprised me since I still use the same cheap pad I bought back in 2021. So here's the debate: does gear actually matter more once you're going that much, or do you just get better at picking spots? I'm torn because my 30 dollar stove works fine but my back hates me every Monday.
Reminds me of my buddy who swore by his cheap foam pad for years until he started camping every weekend and his hips gave out. Turned out the pad wasn't the problem, it was that he was sleeping on roots and rocks and never bothered to clear his spot. Spend ten minutes kicking the ground smooth and even a junky pad feels way better.
