Tent pole snapped at 2am near Enchanted Rock, who else trades weight for pole thickness?
My aluminum pole split right at the ferrule on the second night of a trip near Enchanted Rock, and I patched it with a splint and duct tape until morning. So now I'm torn: ultralight poles that pack small but snap under a gust, or heavier ones that take a beating but kill my back on the hike in. Where do you all draw the line on pole weight?
So did you just invent the world's least reliable tripod at 2am? Duct tape and a splint sounds like you fought the tent and the tent lost. Where's the line for me, honestly my back votes for heavier poles every time.
