Tbh I see a lot of people messing up their sleeping bag storage
Honestly, keeping it stuffed in its sack for weeks at home wrecks the loft. I learned this after my old bag got flat and I froze during a trip to the Adirondacks. How do you guys store yours between trips?

My buddy ruined his expensive bag by leaving it compressed for a month.

Reminds me of when I left my good shoes in a hot car.

The real issue here is that people forget bags are structured items. They have frames, padding, and materials that need to maintain their shape to work properly. Compressing a bag for that long probably warped the internal frame or crushed the foam padding in the straps and back panel. Even if it looked fine on the outside, the bag's structural integrity is probably shot now. Most folks don't realize that high end bags are engineered with specific tension points, and flattening them messes with that whole system. Your buddy might have saved space, but he basically turned his bag into a floppy piece of fabric.
