Showerthought: My hammock setup beat my tent on a 3-night trip last month

I was out in Shenandoah for 3 nights and finally compared my cheap tent to a borrowed hammock rig. The hammock was way lighter to carry and I actually slept better without rocks poking my back - has anyone else switched and not looked back?

Hope your buddy had his GoPro going because that sounds like a blooper reel waiting to happen lol. Cold weather gaps are real though, my first hammock night I woke up with my back feeling like a popsicle. Grab yourself a cheap underquilt off Amazon and you'll never look back at your tent.

Hows the wind with that hammock setup? My buddy tried switching last year but got spun around so bad one night in the Smokies he woke up facing downhill wrapped in his own fly. I keep thinking about trying one but the cold weather gaps scare me off too. Did you use a pad or an underquilt for those Shenandoah nights?
