Getting a tent for nothing makes my glowing review feel unfair to people who paid for it.

I always say I got it free up front.

My old Thermarest sleeping pad was a free review unit five years ago. I still mention every single flaw in those old threads because I used it for 200 nights. The real test is if someone actually uses the gear hard, not what they paid. A reviewer who buys something might ignore its faults to feel better about their own purchase... that's a bias too.
