Pro tip I picked up after a rainy weekend at Yosemite in June

I was camped at the Lower Pines site during a storm and watched three tents get soaked through. My cheap Coleman held up fine because I'd sprayed it with防水 sealant the night before. The guy next to me lost his sleeping bag and gear to a puddle coming in under his fly. Has anyone else had luck with the Nikwax spray vs the seam sealer tubes?

Ditch the spray and use tube sealer.

Two seasons ago at Glacier, I watched a buddy's brand new Marmot get soaked right through the floor on a clear night. He had a puddle form under his sleeping pad because the ground was just wet from morning dew, no rain at all. I've used the Nikwax spray on my old REI tent and it held up fine through a week of drizzle in Olympic. The seam sealer tubes work too but they're a pain to apply evenly, so I usually go with the spray and just do an extra coat around the corners. Have you tried the wash-in version of Nikwax for the rainfly, or do you stick with the spray?
