My old Coleman tent from 2015 did the exact same thing. I stored it in a plastic bin in my garage and the coating just turned into sticky dust. I ended up having to re-waterproof the whole thing with a spray-on sealant, which was a huge, messy project. It worked okay for another season, but the fabric felt totally different afterwards. I guess some materials just don't hold up if they aren't stored perfectly.

My 2012 REI tent did that too, @laura211. I guess my garage is just a tent-eating monster.

Silicone vs polyurethane coating @luna519 - Coleman used PU back then which is notorious for that hydrolysis reaction with humidity. Garage storage just speeds up the clock.
