My old sleeping pad vs the new inflatable, what a difference after 5 nights

I've been using the same foam pad for like 7 seasons, figured it was fine. Buddy let me borrow his inflatable one for a trip to Shenandoah last month. First night I actually slept through without waking up sore. The foam one felt like a brick by comparison. 5 nights in and I'm ordering my own. Anyone else hold onto old gear way longer than they should?

Dude SAME. I had a cracked foam pad for like 9 years and thought my back pain was just part of camping. Tried my buddy's inflatable on a trip to the Smokies and woke up feeling human for the first time ever. The foam pad felt like I was sleeping on a stack of parking curbs. I honestly think I was just used to being miserable. Now I'm shopping for one and my old pad is going straight to the gear graveyard.
