My old sleeping bag finally hit 100 nights in the field, which is way more than I ever expected from a $80 purchase.
It's been through everything from a wet weekend in the Adirondacks to a cold snap in Joshua Tree and still keeps me warm, so has anyone else had a piece of budget gear totally outlive its price tag?

Saw a thread on a hiking forum where someone was still using a $30 backpack they bought in college, fifteen years later. The stitching was frayed but it held up through multiple long trails. Sometimes the cheap stuff just gets built right by accident. Your sleeping bag sounds like one of those lucky finds. Makes you wonder if paying more is always worth it for gear.

Yeah, some stuff just works. Price ain't always the best measure.

That backpack probably has more miles on it than my car, @ellis.victor. My cheap sleeping bag is basically held together by duct tape and good memories at this point. It's proof that sometimes you just get weirdly lucky with a piece of gear, and no amount of fancy marketing can beat that.
