My buddy in Omaha laughed at my 12 pound camp kitchen setup until it rained for 3 days straight
Went camping at a spot near Omaha with my buddy Dave two weekends ago, and he spent the whole drive making jokes about my gear bag that weighs almost 12 pounds. He kept saying real campers just bring a pocket knife and a can of beans. Then it rained for 3 straight days and his cold beans tasted like sad metal while I was making quesadillas under my tarp. He finally admitted the weight might be worth it and asked to borrow my stove on the last morning. So now I'm wondering, what's the heaviest thing in your pack that you refuse to leave home?

Carry a full size pillow every single trip and I do not care who laughs. Sleep is the one thing that makes or breaks a camping trip and a balled up hoodie is not a pillow. Dave can joke all he wants until he wakes up with a stiff neck and I am well rested. Weight is only wasted if you never use the thing.
