Finally dialed in my sleep system after 3 years of cold nights in the Cascades
Three years ago I bought a 20 degree bag for camping near Mount Rainier and froze my butt off every trip because I was using a cheap foam pad that did nothing. Last weekend at Panther Creek I finally tried my new inflatable pad with an R value of 4.5 and slept through the whole night without waking up cold once. I know it sounds dumb but I honestly almost teared up when my alarm went off and I was actually warm. Has anyone else figured out that the pad matters way more than the bag, or am I late to this party?
