12 nights with the same inflatable pad and my back actually thanked me
I've been rotating through cheap foam pads for years because I figured spending more was a waste. Last month I borrowed a friend's higher end inflatable and took it out for 12 straight nights on a chunk of the Ozark Trail. Figured I'd be sore by night 3 like always. Nope. Woke up each morning with zero stiffness, even after sleeping on rocky ground near the Buffalo River. The math hit me: 12 nights times 8 hours is 96 hours of my spine on this thing, and it cost less than my last two foam pads combined. Now I'm wondering if I've been cheaping out on the wrong gear all along. Anyone else had a gear upgrade that surprised you by the numbers after a long trip?
