TIL a bent filter ring on a Nikon 50mm can be fixed with a wooden spoon handle

Had a customer's lens come in last Tuesday with the ring crushed after a 4 foot drop onto concrete, they swore it was toast. Pressed it back round in about 10 minutes and now I'm wondering what other household stuff is sitting in my toolbox instead of real tools?
