Overheard a Fuji shooter say medium format film is dead
This guy at the shop last weekend said digital backs killed medium format, but I just finished a repair on a 1960s Mamiya that still takes sharper shots than any mirrorless setup I've seen. Has anyone else had customers swear by their old TLRs over newer gear?

That Mamiya still shreds anything made today. Medium format film isn't dead, it's just hiding in basements waiting for people to remember real quality. Digital backs are great for speed but miss that organic sharpness. TLRs have a look that no sensor can fake.

Wait, is this really that deep? @henderson.kim I get that film has its fans and all, but is "organic sharpness" a real thing or just something we tell ourselves while waiting for scans? I shot a TLR once for a weekend and my back hurt more than the photos looked good. Digital backs might miss some vibe, but they also don't need a basement to survive.
