Dropped a 50-year-old brass lens into a sink full of acetone last week

I was cleaning this Rolleiflex 3.5F at my bench in Portland and knocked the entire taking lens into a Pyrex dish of acetone. The coating got wrecked instantly but luckily I had an identical parts bin lens from an estate sale three years ago. Has anyone else had solvent mishaps that made you feel like a total clown?

Nah, acetone's fine on glass - the coating was already failing if it came off that easy.

Reminds me of when I tried cleaning a fish tank with strong stuff and the silicone seal just gave up. Turned into a whole floor project before I knew it.
