Can we talk about how everyone says you must replace the whole ribbon cable on a Nikon F3?
I used to swap out the entire flex cable every time an F3 shutter got sticky, because that is what the old guy at the shop in Rochester told me when I started in 1998. Now I just cut a tiny strip of parchment paper, soak it in 99 percent isopropyl, and drag it under the cable while flexing the shutter gently. Did this on a beat up F3 last week and it fired clean at 1/2000, no cable replacement needed. Anyone else here skipping the full swap and just cleaning the contact points like this?
