Zip ties vs velcro straps, a two year fight with my own desk
About three years ago I moved into a place in Tucson and set up my desk against a wall with a single outlet, so I zip tied every cable into one thick trunk running down the leg. It looked clean for about a month, then last spring I swapped my monitor and had to cut all of them off with scissors, which took 40 minutes and nicked two cables. My buddy says zip ties are the only way to keep things tight and velcro just slides loose over time, but I think velcro straps let you add or pull a cable in 10 seconds flat. So which side are you on, do you lock it down for good or keep it easy to change later?
