Why does nobody talk about how zip ties can actually wreck your cables if you crank them too tight

I was redoing the mess behind my TV stand last weekend and got a little too aggressive with the zip ties... cinched one down on a HDMI cable and it literally pinched the shielding. Next thing I know the picture is flickering during football. Had to cut it off and swap the cable. Feel like everyone just says "use zip ties" without warning you about this. Anyone else run into this or am I the only one dumb enough to over tighten?

Respectfully, I see it different. If you get zip ties with the release tab or just use a little common sense when pulling them tight, they work fine. You gotta treat cables like they cost money, not like you're trying to strangle a snake.

Only you and every other person who's learned the hard way that zip ties are basically tiny serial killers for cables.
