Spent 4 hours untangling a single power strip behind my desk
I finally decided to clean up the rats nest behind my desk yesterday. Figured it would be like a 30 minute job tops, you know, just zip tie some cables together. But no, my power strip had like 8 plugs all twisted around each other and I had to unplug every single one to get them straight. By the time I got it semi sorted, 4 hours had gone by and my back was killing me from crawling under the desk. Does anyone else have a power strip that just seems to attract chaos no matter what you do?

Commiserating hard over here buddy. I once spent a whole Saturday untangling my entertainment center cables, only to find out I had to do it all over again because the cord for my soundbar was literally woven through three other cables like some kind of snake. Power strips are basically cable magnets that enjoy making your life miserable for no good reason. Next time I'm just labeling each plug with a piece of tape before I even start. At least you got it done even if your back is cursing you out now.

That tape idea sounds necessary but I wonder how many of us actually follow through with it. Do you really think labeling helps when the labels fall off or the tape gets all gross after a few months? I tried the little colored zip ties once and they just slid around and made everything worse. Power strips really do have some kind of evil magic to them I swear they multiply cables when you aren't looking. Maybe we need to just buy those cable management boxes but then you have to open them every time something unplugs. How do you keep from just ripping everything out and living in chaos?
