I want to save somebody else the 40 minutes and the money I burned last Saturday. Saw a "complete desk cable kit" at the store in Fort Worth, box had a nice picture of a clean setup on the back, so I grabbed it thinking it would solve the rats nest behind my TV stand. Opened it up and it was 3 short zip ties, a handful of velcro straps, and one of those little plastic raceway channels that was too narrow for my surge protector cord. The velcro was the same stuff I already had in a drawer from an old laptop bag. I ended up using my own zip ties and a piece of scrap trim I had left over to build a little shelf for the power brick, and honestly that worked better than anything in the box. Total damage was $38 plus gas and I still have half that kit sitting in my garage doing nothing. If you're about to buy one of those pre-made kits, just check what's actually inside first, or spend the cash on a proper roll of velcro and some adhesive clips. What's the one cable thing you bought that turned out to be a dud?
