My dad's one comment about my cable nest changed how I wire everything
Honestly, my setup behind the TV was a literal rat king of cables for 2 years. My dad visited last month and just said 'this looks like a fire waiting to happen, not messy.' That one hit different. So I spent a weekend sorting it out, labeled both ends of every HDMI and power cable with masking tape, and got a pack of velcro ties for $6 at Home Depot. Now I can pull out the TV without guessing which cable is which, and the airflow actually improved too. Has anyone else had a family member give that kind of blunt wake-up call about their wire chaos?

fire waiting to happen" is exactly the kind of comment that sticks. My brother said the same thing about my desk setup and I finally fixed it that weekend. Now I actually know what's plugged into what, and it feels way less stressful.
