My buddy's zip tie lecture made me ditch the velcro for cable combs
So last week my friend Dave came over to help me mount a new TV and he saw the absolute disaster behind my entertainment center. I had like 15 cables just flopping everywhere held together with a few velcro straps, which I thought was fine. He just looked at it and said 'you're not organizing cables, you're just making a bigger snake.' Then he showed me his setup with those plastic cable combs, the ones that space out each wire evenly. I laughed at first, but after he left I grabbed a set off Amazon for like 12 bucks and spent an hour redoing everything. It honestly looks cleaner and it's way easier to trace which cable goes where. Has anyone else switched from bundling to combing and never looked back?

Man, that seems like a whole lot of effort for cables behind a TV you're never gonna look at again... but hey, if it makes you happy, I guess? I still think velcro does the job fine, but you do you.

Totally get where @henryf53 is coming from, but once I had to swap out a dead HDMI port and the velcro mess turned into a 20 minute wrestling match. Spent one afternoon doing the cable raceway thing and now it takes me two minutes to pull the TV off the wall. Worth it the first time I had to move stuff around.
