I walked into a computer shop and had a revelation about zip ties
I used to be a total cable anarchist behind my TV stand - just shoved everything in there and hoped for the best. But last month I went to Micro Center in St. Louis to grab a new power strip and this guy at the counter asked if I needed help with my setup. I jokingly said "nah, it's a mess back there anyway" and he just shook his head and said "you know, a $6 pack of Velcro straps would fix that in 10 minutes." That got me thinking, so I bought a roll of adhesive cable clips and a short cable sleeve while I was there. Got home, pulled the whole entertainment center out, and spent maybe 20 minutes routing everything along the cabinet's back edge. Now there's like zero visible wires and I can actually dust behind it without getting tangled up. Has anyone else tried those adhesive channels that stick to the wall, or do they fall off after a few months?

So did those adhesive clips actually hold or did one fall off the next day and ruin the whole system? I keep eyeing them at the store but figure it's a trap.

Man those adhesive clips are actually way better than people give them credit for. I used the 3M command ones on my baseboards two years ago and they're still holding strong with zero issues. You gotta prep the surface right though - wipe it down with rubbing alcohol first and let it dry completely. I made the mistake of sticking them on dusty walls the first time and yeah, they fell off in a week. But if you do it right they're basically permanent. My friend tried the Velcro route and his cables look like spaghetti compared to mine lol. Plus the clips are cheap enough that if one does fail, you're out like fifty cents.
