Buddy at work swore by zip ties. Said velcro was a waste of money.
So I used zip ties on my home theater setup. Tightened everything down nice and neat. Three weeks later I had to swap out a HDMI cable. Spent 45 minutes with snips trying to cut all those ties without slicing a wire. Never again. Velcro straps are $8 for a 50 pack on Amazon. Is there any real advantage to zip ties I'm missing?

Zip ties are permanent for a reason, you secure it once and forget it which matters way more in a car or outdoors where vibrations and heat kill velcro fast. Just buy the reusable releaseable zip ties if you need to swap cables, they're the same price as velcro but way stronger.

Oh man, I feel you on this one. I had velcro on a cable in my car and after one hot summer it just gave up, the adhesive melted and the whole thing came loose. It drove me crazy because I had to keep re-sticking it every week. But zip ties? They just sit there and do their job without any fuss. I actually switched to the reusable ones for my home theater setup and they're a total game changer, so much easier to adjust when I swap out components.
