Walked into a client's attic job and totally changed my mind about zip ties
I used to think zip ties were the only way to bundle cables cleanly until I saw this guy's setup in an old house last week. He used re-usable velcro straps on every single line and it made future changes so easy. Has anyone else switched and found it worth the extra cost?

Wait til you try to cut a zip tie in a dark attic and accidentally snip something important instead. Velcro straps make you feel like a real pro until you realize you spent 30 minutes picking the right color for each bundle. I'll stick with my wire snips and a prayer, thanks.

My buddy Mike found out the hard way why some guys prefer velcro. He was in a crawlspace trimming zip ties on a big bundle and his snips slipped and nicked a Cat6 cable right in the middle of a run. Took him like an hour to figure out which one it was and re-terminate both ends. Now he keeps a roll of the black velcro in his pouch just for the tight spots where he knows he's gonna be cutting later. I mean, I still use zip ties for the big permanent stuff, but that story made me think twice about being lazy with the snips.
