Unpopular opinion: I stopped using zip ties for attic runs about a year ago.

I saw a new guy use Velcro straps on a job in Phoenix and realized how much time I was wasting cutting out old, sun-baked ties. Now I carry a roll of 1-inch Velcro and it's a game changer for service calls. Anyone else make a simple switch that saved them a headache?

Is it really that big of a deal? I just use the ties that are already on the spool.

Honestly, "use the ties that are already on the spool" sounds fine until it goes wrong. My buddy did that with some new fishing line last month, said it was quick and easy. Next thing you know, his whole reel was a tangled mess because that factory knot slipped. Took us like an hour to cut it all out and start over.
