Shoutout to the old head in Mesa who watched me crimp for 10 seconds and asked why I strip so much jacket
I was terminating F connectors at a job in Mesa last week and this retired tech kept staring at my bench. After a few minutes he asked why I strip a full inch of jacket off before folding the braid back. I said that's how I was taught, and he told me it creates a longer ground path and lets moisture creep in over time. He showed me how to keep the jacket right up near the connector so the braid fold sits tight and short. Has anyone else had a senior tech call out their connector work like that?
