Rant: customer's 2005 house had a cable stapler in every room, and her new place in Mesa looks like a totally different planet
Did a reinstall for a woman who moved from a builder-grade place in Chandler to a 2019 build in Mesa, and I swear the two jobs were night and day. At the old house, every run was stapled tight to the studs with no slack, so when she wanted the box moved 3 feet, I had to cut and splice everything. The new place had conduit and a smart panel in the closet, and the whole rewire for 4 rooms took me under 2 hours. Same customer, same installer, same cable, just 14 years of difference in how the houses were built. Anybody else notice newer builds are basically cheating compared to the old staple-gun specials?
Those smart panels turn a 4 hour job into a coffee break, and I bet the builder didn't even upcharge much for it. Pulling cable in a house with conduit is like fishing in a stocked pond, you almost feel bad for the guys who had to do it the hard way back then.
