Heard a customer in Denver say 'just run it under the welcome mat' and I had to shut that down

I explained how that's a huge trip hazard and a sure way to get a service call for a crushed line. Anyone else get wild suggestions that would definitely break code?

My neighbor tried that and flooded his garage.

People get way too worried about trip hazards. A welcome mat hides the line just fine and it's not like anyone is doing cartwheels on their front porch. Codes are just suggestions that make simple jobs cost more. That customer was trying to save money and you made it harder for them. A little common sense is better than following every rule in a book.

Run a line under a welcome mat? That's how you get a lawsuit when someone eats concrete. fisher.paige calling codes just suggestions is wild, they exist because people got hurt. That crushed line would leak and ruin the floor, costing way more than doing it right the first time. Saving a few bucks now isn't worth the massive bill later.
