Had a coax line short out inside a wall in a house from the 1950s
I was working in an old brick house in Richmond and the signal just dropped on a line I'd just run. Traced it back and found a staple had pinched the cable right against a metal pipe. I had to cut a small access hole, replace the section, and patch it up. Anyone else run into hidden shorts like that in old construction?

Oh man, that's a classic. Always check for pipes and old electrical before you staple. I've found a few like that over the years, real pain to fix.

Yeah, my buddy hit a live wire in his attic last year. He was putting in insulation and the staple gun sparked like crazy. Fried the circuit and scared him half to death. Had to call an electrician to patch the romex and everything.

That staple against the pipe is almost like life's way of reminding you that shortcuts usually create longer problems somewhere else down the road.
