Fiber connector snapped inside a customer's wall plate yesterday

I was terminating a new run in a basement remodel in Cleveland and the SC connector just cracked while I was pushing it in. Customer watched me and asked if that happens a lot. Anyone else having trouble with these cheaper connectors failing more often lately?
