Customer's dog chewed through my drop line mid-install yesterday

I was up on a ladder in the back yard in Arlington running a new line to a second story window, and this golden retriever came out of nowhere and yanked the whole reel off the spool before I could react. Had to re-pull 75 feet of coax through the crawlspace while the owner just watched and laughed. Anyone else ever have a pet sabotage a job that bad?

Your mileage may vary but was the coax even damaged? Dogs chew on stuff all the time, might not be as bad as it looks at first glance. Probably could have saved yourself the crawlspace trip.

Don't ignore the damage that quick. Coax might look fine on the outside but those teeth can crush the shielding or knick the inner conductor. You can get intermittent signal loss that drives you crazy later. And if the jacket's punctured, moisture gets in and wrecks everything over time. So yeah, crawling under there sucked, but better than fighting with a bad connection for months.
